Jason Isaacs is Secret Sex Society (2018)beaming up to Star Trek: Discovery, where he's been tapped to play Captain Lorca, the leader of the titular starship in CBS All Access' new series.

Discoverywill differ from previous installments of the franchise in that the ship's captain will not be the lead character of the series; the show's protagonist will instead be a lieutenant commander played by Sonequa Martin-Green.

Executive producer Bryan Fuller -- who stepped down from showrunning duties on Discoveryto focus on other projects -- previously explained that since Star Trek has already had multiple series told from the point-of-view of the captains, he wanted to explore "a character from a different perspective, who has a different dynamic with the captain, with subordinates."

In addition to Isaacs,Star Trek: Discoveryhas also cast Mary Wiseman as Tilly, a Starfleet Academy Cadet in her final year of study, assigned to the Starship Discovery.

They join Michelle Yeohas Captain Georgiou, leader of the Starship Shenzhou; Doug Jones as Lt. Saru; Anthony Rapp as Lt. Stamets; Chris Obi, Shazad Latif and Mary Chieffo as Klingon warriors; and James Frain as Spock's father, Sarek.

A premiere date for the series has yet to be determined following production delays, but filming is currently underway in Toronto.
